A lot of local small businesses are shut down. It is illegal to do business right now and everyone is trying to figure out what to do. During these times, businesses are trying to provide discounts or even home services. Some customers are also trying to do online selling via Instagram. People do not want to leave their houses. A lot of people are being displaced.
But even during these times that we all need to stay at home, we will all be needing to glow up. We will all be needing to get ready to face the world again. People would want to SPEND MONEY AGAIN after this situation or this global pandemic. They have been staying at home, saving money than what they used to.
And that’s where we all should be gearing up for. We need to sell to them future benefits. We need to STAY ON BUSINESS. A lot of high-end brands are giving discounts. You can also send your loyal customers gift cards and continue to push and advertise while people are at home.
Take advantage of SOCIAL MEDIA. Nowadays, a lot of people are on social media because they all have the time. The cheapest way to advertise is on Instagram and Facebook. You need to do it on these channels because you need to take advantage of everyone’s eyeballs on screen right now.
It’s now the time to showcase why you are different. While everyone else is afraid to do anything, TAKE THE FIRST STEP. Show them what you are doing and how you are coping with the situation.
BE WHEREVER YOUR CUSTOMER IS. Use the time you have right now.
People are just waiting to spend their money. Most people are going to come back to make themselves beautiful and to glow up. So, now is the time to offer your services and make sure that YOU ARE READY TO RE-OPEN. It’s the lipstick effect! The lipstick effect is the theory that when facing an economic crisis consumers will be more willing to buy less costly luxury goods. Instead of buying expensive fur coats, for example, people will buy expensive lipstick. The underlying assumption is that consumers will buy luxury goods even if there is a crisis. In our case, when there are hard times, people like to look better to attract good things to come their way. They want to work out, watch what they eat and look good as much as possible. And as soon as things are becoming normalized, they are going to line up at your salon.
And lastly, REACH OUT.
Call your customers, check on them and ask them how they are doing and coping up with the situation. Let them know you care and you can start giving them tips or advice on what they are struggling with especially on beauty or self-care.
Most importantly, tap into resources provided by government and financial institutions. Take advantage of loans and be up to date on how you can cut costs at this time. You can visit spa.gov which takes only 5 minutes to apply. Remember, small businesses are the backbone of the society.
You need to do everything you can to STAY RELEVANT to your customers.
