A lot of people in the beauty industry are out of business or are on their downtime. Everything is becoming virtual right now. A lot of people rely on the internet for getting information and purchasing products and services. Christine, being a TV personality, has used her credibility and leveraged on it through the power of digital marketing.
In any business, you need to have a clear brand message. You want to become a household name without spending too much on advertising. You need to learn how to utilize earned media. Earned media refers to an unpaid mention of your brand, which could come in the form of a news article, a review, or a shout-out on social media from a customer. What Christine does is she interviews people from different brands and through this her viewers would know and recognize these brands. A lot of people are watching news right now, so you could take advantage of it. You can contact the media to get you on TV but make sure you know the reporter or at least have knowledge on his/her background and credibility.
Now is the time to get your message out.
You can also do video conferences. Ask for feedback, comments, concerns and suggestions. Contact your most loyal customers and check on how they are doing.
You need to get their attention.
A lot of people are feeling down and depressed. Lift them up by doing tutorials online. Make them physically and mentally beautiful. Since they cannot go out to have the beauty experts do their hair, nails, and skin care, you can start doing it for them online by giving tips and advice. Think of things that they cannot do on their own. This is how you retain your customers.
Be playful, creative and fun. You can make a challenge and make it fun for them. This is way better than watching news. Think about the positivity that these people can get from you. This is also something that your customers might want to log in for. You can also host happy hours in Zoom. Build relationships and just catch up and talk to each other. Engage them to a conversation in a fun way instead of focusing on the negative stuff.
Lastly, focus on how to improve your business and be inspiring to other business owners to do the same. DO NOT PANIC. The news and the government are already making us panic but all they wanted is for us to stay at home.
And remember to take care of yourself and your clients. A healthy mindset will make it easy for you to come up with creative ideas and new strategies to move forward. Things will definitely get better and remember that you are not alone. We are all in this together. Ask for emotional support from your group of friends or from business owners as well.
